King Abdulaziz University believes that its academic departments are the cornerstone of the educational process, and that they are the basis upon which the university rests to achieve its aims and implement its strategies. The university’s continuous support has inspired a group of faculty members to propose an initiative to the Vice-president for Academic Affairs, Prof. Abdulmonim Al-Hayyani to establish an advisory platform for the heads of the academic departments.It can be claimed that the first Forum received remarkable attendance by department heads. This has indeed inspired the Forum organizers to make it an annual event. The current plan is to hold the Forum in the first semester, followed by supporting activities in the second semester.These activities will include workshops and training courses that will contribute to fulfil the goals of the Forum, and to ensure the enhancement of competence and the quality of the performance of department heads. Not only that, but through Forum teamwork and the support of the management of the university, the benefit of holding forums can be extended at the level of other Saudi universities in the future, to ensure the excellence and pioneership of the university.
